Zuni Shalakos emerge in late November or early December as part of the Zunis' major Ritual reenacting the Zuni emergence and migration myths.The Ritual is also a prayer for rain, health of the People and propagation of plants and animals. The houses which will honor the Shalakos must be built or extensively remodeled to accommodate the 10 to 12 foot figures.
