Linda Jo Povi Askin and her Daughter, Diane Halsey, have combined traditions in making this Storyteller. They have used the pit firing and stone ploishing techniques to create the classic black pottery of Santa Clara Pueblo. By working together they have added to the multi-generational aspect of the tradition of Oral histories. The pottery figures, called Storytellers, commemorate the oral tradition of Elders telling children stories they had heard in their youth. Folk Tales, religion and customs were passed from one generation to the next. The pot included with this Storyteller also fits in her hands. 6 3/4" tall by 3 3/4" wide |
