Concho belts have been created by the Navajo and Zuni people since silver work was brought to New Mexico by the Spanish. They have been a family
treasure passed on, a source of pawn or sales value for the owners. Both men's and woman's belts were created for ceremonials and later for the public.
The concho belts have become more stylish with a return to native silver and turquoise by Ralph Lauren and articles in Oprah's magazine.
