David Alvarez is a traditional Northern New Mexico woodcarver.
He gathers his wood from downed trees; aspen, pine, juniper,
cottonwood and oak in the forests close to his home. He creates
figures of angels, saints and nativities with a forceful simplicity
that comes from a "naieve" artist. David's lively figures are
each different and each has a personality and each catches the
essence of Northern New Mexico folkart.
