Kachinas are the essential spirit of everything in the existing world. Where it rains, where the hunt takes place, where insects gather, when the sun shines the Kachinas spirit exists. The Kachina dolls seem to have been used for a continuation of the traditions of the Kachinas, as a tool for instruction of the young in the pueblos and as a reminder of the spiritual world in homes within the pueblo.
